Joe Niekro Foundation Announces New Appointments to Board of Directors

Scottsdale, Arizona (December 22, 2016) – The Joe Niekro Foundation announces the election of respected nonprofit leaders from across the country to its Board of Directors.

At The Joe Niekro Foundation™ Board of Directors meeting on September 30th, the following board members were appointed two year term.

Paul Novak (effective immediately) – former Institute of Supply Management CEO, 16 year member of Rotary International and Advisory Board member to the San Diego Supply Chain Program.

Natalie Niekro (effective immediately) – Founder and former Executive Director  of the Joe Niekro Foundation.

“We are privileged to have such accomplished individuals helping guide the Joe Niekro Foundation,” said Gary Simms, Chairman of The Joe Niekro Foundation™. “We have a very strong and diverse board in place and we couldn’t be more pleased with these appointments. Paul and Natalie bring unparalleled wisdom and passionate commitment that will bring insightful perspectives to the board.”

The current Board of Directors for the Joe Niekro Foundation includes: Gary Simms (Chairman), Linda Michels, Jeffrey Mayer, Ed McCarron, Terry Oprea and William Michels.

About the Joe Niekro Foundation – The Joe Niekro Foundation™ was established in 2007 and is headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ. The organization is the “brain child” of Natalie Niekro (daughter of Joe). Joe Niekro was a twenty-two year veteran of professional baseball who suddenly lost his life from a cerebral brain aneurysm in October 2006. The astonishing lack of public awareness and under-support of research led to the launch of a crusade to educate and encourage awareness about brain aneurysms and other cerebral disorders.

The Joe Niekro Foundation™ is committed to supporting patients and families, research, treatment and awareness of Brain Aneurysms, AVMs and Hemorrhagic Strokes. We provide education on the risk factors, causes and treatments of these conditions,  while funding the advancement of neurological research. To learn more, visit www.joeniekrofoundation.org.
